Dealing with Doubt - Dennis

“If you were born in Saudi Arabia you would be just as convinced about Islam”, a friend responded.

I had followed Jesus since childhood and came from a Christian family, but that doesn’t make my belief true or false. What my friend was basically saying was that he believed religion was a matter of culture and tradition, not a matter of life and truth.  I also began to wonder, is God unfair to give some people more access to truth?

“What do I do about doubts?” was the question I asked my pastor. He responded, “Are you 80% sure of what the Bible says? What is the other 20%? Do you think Islam or Buddhism might be true instead? Go investigate, then live 100% by what you decide.”

I knew enough about these other religions to know they are empty. I wasn’t born under Islam, but lack of freedom doesn’t make it true. Jesus wasn’t afraid of questions or doubts but emphasized our response to God, "If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them” (John 13:17).
