Just Existing - Kejdis

"We are the happiest country in the world, because we don't believe in God as those countries beyond the mountains do"

- said my teacher in the 7th grade as she pointed from the window of the classroom toward the mountains on the border with Montenegro. I turned my head toward those mountains grateful to be born in a country like Albania. This was the first time I heard about God, and I determined in my mind that there was no God.  Although my parents grew up in religious families, they never talked about religion because at that time we were targeted by the communist regime.

Ten years later, when communism fell, I heard more of the existence of the spiritual world. For the first time I heard that God not only existed, but that He was an intelligent God who had created everything harmoniously. This was something completely different from what I had learned in the Faculty of Biology.

One day I saw some American Christian students, and because I wanted to practice some English, I managed to meet with them. Immediately the conversation was focused on spiritual things. I was curious to discover this world, so I agreed to meet them every week. What I learned was shocking to me. The intelligent God loved me personally.

I received a Bible from these Christian students and for the first time I learned that its message, full of fulfilled prophecies, was to reconcile man with God. Jesus was the message of the Bible, and through Him you could know God's love.

Everything was new, and I needed to reflect on this better. After a long study of Jesus' existence, life and claims, I was convinced He was more than just a man. God had visited us as a man. But why wasn't this discovery important to people around me? I was surprised to see that people either seemed indifferent to the existence of Jesus or were ashamed of my decision. However, the truth was BIGGER and more important to me. Therefore, I put my faith in Jesus as my Savior.

Today I am amazed as I discover God's thoughts, desires and His will for my life. God is a real person.  This has transformed my life completely.

Today I know there are many people who don't know God exists, and that He can be known personally. People need to know He loves them. This is what I have committed my life to.

"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all." (Oscar Wilde)
Are you pursuing truth?  If it were possible to know God better, would this interest you?
